About Us

The Holden Veterinary Clinic team would like to welcome you to our site and our hospital. We hope that it will give you some insight into our commitment to caring for our clients and patients.

Dr. Daniel H. Rice III opened the doors of our hospital on October 1, 1969. Since that day, the Holden Veterinary Clinic has been known for excellent medical and surgical care in the Holden area. Forty-one years later, Dr. Danielle Friend, Dr. Jennifer Downes, and Dr. Bridget D’Onofrio continue his pledge to offer the best care available to our patients and their families. We are committed to preventive medicine, to client education, and to constant furthering of our own educations, so that we may continue to bring modern medical and surgical techniques to our patients.

Our facility enables you to make one stop for your pet’s medical care.

Holden Veterinary Clinic offers emergency veterinary services in addition to standard medical, surgical, and dental veterinary care. Our full-service clinic is equipped with an in-house pharmacy, lab, radiology facilities, and Intensive Care Unit.

Holden Veterinary Clinic Care Commitment

Our entire veterinary team is committed to caring for our patients, our clients, and each other in the following manner:

1. We commit to being community oriented, vowing to support our community programs such as the Central Massachusetts Disaster Animal Response Team and supporting the work of canine officers and their partners. We will also assist in activities that benefit the animals of the community in which we live.
2. We are dedicated to fulfilling our roles to work as a team for the well-being of our patients, addressing our clients’ needs, educating ourselves and our clients, and following up on our medical and surgical cases.
3. We respect our clients, our patients, and each other. We will greet clients with a smile when they enter the clinic, greet pets by their names, and make sure we assist our coworkers before we leave in the evening.
4. We demonstrate our loyalty to our clients, our patients, and our team by helping one another, working late nights, and taking emergency calls for our clients.
5. We are committed to listening to our clients’ concerns and guiding them through education about the options available or their pets’ care.
6. We commit to keeping the clinic at the forefront of veterinary medicine by going to educational conferences, classes, and wet labs and bringing these advancements back to our clients and our patients.
7. We are honest and forthright about our patients and their conditions, recommending what is best for their care.
8. We commit to treating one another, our clients, and our patients with compassionate care, understanding people’s and animals’ needs for physical and emotional well-being.
